SIDERSOGER (Cider tales)
SIDERSOGER was a sound installation specifically made for, and at, Alvavoll fruit- and cider farm in Hardanger, Norway in 2019. In Sidersoger, the tanks that are usually used for cider production, have become the sonic instrument itself. The work was inspired by local stories about exchange with the outside world through all time; the Hardanger apples’ journey out into the world, monks who brought the knowledge of apple cultivation to Hardanger in the 14th century, Sherpas who have built stairs in the mountains, honey, cider and other products that have been cultivated and processed locally, and travel out into the world again. Sidersoger invited the audience to a breath of fresh air in one of the production premises at Alvavoll Gard, to sit down, take in the view, put their ear to a tank and listen to a sonic Cider tale.
Materials / technique: 7 steel tanks in varying sizes, resonant surface speakers, multi-channel playback technology
The work was commissioned by Hardanger Musikkfest / The Hardanger Music Festival 2019.
